WILL IMPUNITY END IN GAZA AND LEBANON?

7

After the suicidal acts in Israel, causing deaths of over a thousand as well as injuries, the Israeli leadership had the option to call on the Palestinian Authority to work with them to condemn and identify those who perpetrated the act and condition them to release the hostages. They could have used the fora of the United Nations (UN) and the International Criminal Court (ICC) to call for action against those who perpetrated the act. Hamas would have been isolated in the world and even its backers in the Middle East would have condemned and disowned them.

However, Netanyahu decided to use the occasion to carry out genocidal assault on Gaza and the West Bank killing over 44000 people, maiming over 100000 and destroying homes all over Gaza to make the land uninhabitable to the inhabitants. The excessive brutality has outraged the conscience of all human beings on the face of the earth. It is therefore not a surprise that the ICC has issued arrest warrants against Mohammed Diab Ibrahim Al Masri, currently believed to be allied to Hamas, and the Israeli leaders directing matters in Gaza, Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu and former defence minister, Yoav Gallant. They are now considered to be fugitives after arrest warrants have been issued against them. This shows that impunity does not pay.
