The National Assembly has disclosed that it is gearing up for its second extraordinary session slated for Saturday, 19 October 2024.
During the said extraordinary session, as indicated by the Office of the Clerk, the legislature is expected to consider and ratify the memorandum of understanding on circular migration between the Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of the Gambia.
This development is unveiled in the press release issued by the Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly on Tuesday, 15 October 2024.
“The Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly wishes to inform the general public that the National Assembly will convene for an Extra-Ordinary Session in the 2024 Legislative Year on Saturday 19th October 2024 at 10:00 am to consider important urgent matters of State,” said the Office of Clerk.
These state matters as highlighted by the Clerk’s Office, include the following;
i. Consideration and Ratification of the Memorandum of Understanding on Circular Migration between the Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of the Gambia;
ii. Consideration and Approval of the nominated person for Appointment as Clerk of the National Assembly.
The Clerk’s Office added, “The Hon. Minister for Trade, Industry, Regional Integration, and Employment will table the Agreement for Ratification, while the Hon. Majority Leader will table the Motion for Appointment of the Clerk of the National Assembly for approval”.
It stated that the sitting will commence at 10:00 am. The public is reminded to comply with the standard dress code (traditional or suit) required and also to observe the silence rule during the proceedings.
