The Hagie Gai Drammeh Foundation for the Physically Challenged on Saturday, 5 October 2024 donated eleven wheelchairs to the Cassamance Regional Disability Association, Southern Senegal.
The wheelchairs were handed over to the President of the Regional De Organization Des Parson Handicapé Ziguinchor.
The delegation was headed by Alasan Badjen, other members who came included the association’s Secretary General Yaya Conteh, Sport Director Abdou Manneh, Ndey Hoja Badjan President Women Disabled Association Zickgachor, Abdou Sanyang, Ebrima Jammeh and Ousman Badjan.
This benevolent gesture was made possible through the kind assistance of Kriss Dee Demitri and Yuri Roopnarine, a Canadian family with a history of philanthropic endeavours in Africa.
The President of the Cassamance Disability Association commends the Hagie Gai Drammeh Foundation for the Physically Challenged for extending a helping hand to his association.
“This is what true brotherhood is all about, remembering your neighbours both in good and hard times”, he said.
He continued by stating that the wheelchairs would go a long way in alleviating the hardships faced by the intended beneficiaries back home in the Cassamance where wheelchairs are difficult to get.
The Hagie Gai Drammeh Foundation for the Physically Challenged is a relatively young organisation, but it has become a trendsetter in the philanthropic arena in The Gambia largely due to the high level of integrity and transparency with which the association conducts its affairs, a trait that has endeared it to its partners.
Mr Hagie Drammeh, the Chairman of Hagie Gai Drammeh Foundation – the Gambia, said the integrity of people with disabilities is the most important thing to him that needs to be respected.
He implored his Senegalese counterparts to ensure that the donated wheelchairs were given to those most in need of them.
Hagie also used the occasion to call on all to come forth and forge partnerships with his association and extend a helping hand to the most needy in our society.
