Gambian National Elected as President of African Youths Union

Mr Ousman Jallow, a Gambian national was on Tuesday, 17 September 2024 elected as the president of the African Youths Union (AYU).

Ousman Jallow is a native of Sohm Village, Kombo East District, West Coast Region of the Gambia.

The election was overseen by the AYU secretariat board of  Honourable J. Musa from Kenya. He declared the winner of the election on 17September 2024.

According to Hon. J. Musa, Mr Jallow won the election with 62%, one of his competitors scored 28%, while the two other candidates secured just 5% each.

Honourable J. Musa said Jallow’s victory is not just a personal achievement but a beacon of inspiration for countless young individuals across the continent, reminding them that together, they can forge a new era defined by empowerment, unity, and boundless possibilities. 

In his role as president of the Africa Youths Union, Jallow promised to work diligently alongside NGOs, government agencies, and other stakeholders to support the youth of Africa in their various initiatives. He emphasizes the need to protect the rights and dignity of every African, especially the youth.

“The feature of our continent rests in the hands of its youthful population, it is our responsibility to take ownership and work towards developing our continent,” he said.
