Nine in Custody for Possession, Trafficking of ‘Kush’, Other Prohibited Drugs

Agents of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency-Gambia (DLEA-G) have nabbed nine people for alleged possession and trafficking of prohibited drugs including ‘Kush’. 

Ousman Saidyba, the Public Relations Officer of the DLEA-G said Musa Ceesay, Musa Jarju and Omar Nyang, all of Misera village, were arrested by agents of Soma DLEA-G station with alleged suspected cannabis sativa which they concealed in cement paper and put in a multi-colored and a transparent nylon bag respectively.

He said 21-year-old Idrissa ‘Belt’ Camara who comes from Sierra Leone and resides in Brikama, was arrested by agents of Brikama DLEA-G station with forty-one wraps of suspected ‘Kush’ which he concealed in white paper and placed inside his underwear. 

“25-year-old Lamin Kurang who resides in Fajikunda, was also arrested by agents of Bundung DLEA-G station with twenty-five wraps of suspected cannabis sativa which he concealed in white paper and placed in a black sock, and then placed it inside a waist bag respectively,” Saidyba said, adding that 74-year-old Sulayman Njie, a retired accountant who resides in Banjul, was also arrested by agents of Banjul DLEA-G station with six wraps of suspected cocaine, and one wrap and a smoking joint of suspected cannabis sativa which he concealed in white paper.

“35-year-old Alagie Badjie, a resident of Brufut was arrested by agents of Serrekunda DLEA-G station with suspected cannabis sativa concealed in cement paper and a multi-colored bag, and then placed inside an empty mayonnaise bucket respectively,” he said. 

He said 36-year-old Herneio Dos Reis, a Bissau Guinean residing in Kololi, was also arrested by agents of Serrekunda DLEA-G station with suspected cocaine which he concealed in a transparent nylon bag. 

Saidyba said 28-year-old Muhammed Jagne of Lamin village and driver by profession, was also arrested by agents of the Anti-crime Unit of the Gambia Police Force with ten wraps of suspected ‘Kush’ which he concealed in white paper and placed inside a transparent nylon bag. 

He concluded that all the suspects are currently in custody as further investigation continues in their cases.
