TERRORISM IS A SUICIDAL TENDENCY: KILLING THE HAMAS LEADER DOES NOT MAKE ISRAELIS SECURE

67

Assassinations and other terrorist activities are generally perpetrated by people who have suicidal tendencies. Such actions are signs of desperation not strength.

It is strange that the Israeli leadership would aim to assassinate the political leader of a movement that Israel is waging a war against and has already taken over 39,000 lives. What is there for Israel to gain by taking one more life?

The hundreds of thousands of people in Iran and Qatar who mourned the death of the Hamas leader confirms that the assassination has earned Israel the very opposite of what Israel intended. Iran however should not make the loss meaningless to many by perpetrating a similar violence on Israeli citizens.

Any terrorist act in revenge would only earn more sympathy for those killed. Rather it is better for the world to focus on how to solve the Palestinian problem and ensure that all Palestinians attain a secure homeland where the people could exist in peace. An assassin can never ever earn the respect of those who value human life even if they are opponents.
