explained that in 2010, the technical departments were instructed to initiate land banking within the state lands of the Western Region, now the West Coast Region.
He said that by 2011, lands were identified in certain settlements for a proposed housing scheme for civil servants.
He added that the departments identified the reserved lands for residential purposes within the Greater Banjul Area, allocated at Old Yundum, Yonna and Jambur.
“Recent inspection indicates sporadic developments and encroachments on the reserved lands,” he told the assembly.
