DLEAG Nabs 11 Suspects for Alleged Possession of Kush, Other Prohibited Drugs

Mr Ousman Saidyba, the Public Relations Officer of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the Gambia (DLEAG), has said officers of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the Gambia (DLEAG) over the weekend arrested eleven people suspected of possessing Kush and other prohibited drugs.

He said Mamadou Jallow, a Senegalese residing at Siliti Village, was arrested at Manduar Village with three bundles of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in cement papers and placed inside a black backpack.

He said a 30-year-old Yusupha Camara, a resident of DippaKunda and a painter by profession was arrested by Narcotic Officers attached to the Kotu DLEAG Station with twelve pills of Ecstasy which were concealed in foil papers and placed inside a transparent nylon bag.

“37-year-old Foday Gibba, a resident of Lamin Village and a Driver by profession was arrested at Barra Ferry Terminal by DLEAG Officers attached to Barra with two bundles of suspected cannabis sativa, concealed in cement papers and placed inside a transparent nylon bag. 

“A 22-year-old Pa Lamin Secka, a resident of Bakau and a fisherman by profession was also arrested by Tujereng Police Station with seventy-one wraps of suspected cannabis sativa, concealed in white papers and placed inside a red bag,” he said.

PRO Saidyba said a 17-year-old alleged child offender, a resident of Farafenni and an apprentice was arrested by the Farafenni DLEAG with seven wraps of suspected cannabis sativa, also concealed in white papers and inside a small bag.

“Alagie Senghore, a resident of Abuko was arrested by the Anti-Crime Unit of GPF with thirteen pills of Diazepam, eight pieces of cannabis resin (hashish), two sachets of suspected cannabis skunk, two sachets of suspected kush, and a smoking joint of cannabis sativa which were concealed in different medical sachets,” he said.

He said a 43-year-old Bilal Sey, a resident of SinchuAlagie and a businessman was arrested by the Serrekunda DLEAG Station with one bundle of suspected cannabis sativa which was concealed in cement paper and placed inside a multicolor backpack.

Saidyba said 19-year-old Dawda Barry, a resident of Tallinding and a carpenter was arrested by the Tallinding DLEAG Station with eight wraps and some quantities of suspected kush which was concealed in white papers and inside a medical sachet.

He said a 33-year-old, Alieu Sillah, a resident of Kololi and a businessman by profession was arrested by the Anti-Crime Unit of GPF with eighteen wraps of suspected kush which was concealed in multicolor papers.

“27-year-old Yaya Saidy, a resident of SankulayKunda was arrested by narcotic officers attached to the Bansang DLEAG Station with three hundred and five wraps of cannabis skunk, nine wraps of cannabis sativa and cash amount of D40, 755.00 which is believed to be proceeds of the illicit trade and concealed in a white paper, transparent nylon bag and black boom bag respectively,” he said.

Saidyba said four big bundles and some quantities of suspected cannabis sativa were found at Manduar football field by Brikama DLEAG station which were concealed in cement paper, a green and white small bottle, a red and black color bag, and a motorcycle.
