WHAT ACTION DID THE GOVERNMENT TAKE TO PROTECT CITIZENS FROM THE SHOOT TO KILL POLICY AT THE BORDER?
A government has gone and another has come, but the shoot to kill policy remains. Now the Gambia Government has an opportunity in a recent development to address this problem once and for all. The bullets are now in the hands of the government. This case should be thoroughly investigated by the Senegalese and Gambian governments. The person shot is still alive.
At the end of the investigation, the investigators should know how the transport he drove entered the Casamance, the legality or illegality of the entry, the purpose of the entry, the ones who did the shooting and why, the legality or illegality of the shooting; and reach a joint conclusion on what actually happened and come to an agreement to prevent recurrence.
This is the only way forward if the shoot to kill policy at the border is to be nipped in the bud.
