Police Recover Non-lethal Firearms in Kanifing South

In a joint operation with the Sheriff Division of Banjul and armed with a court order, Agents of the Gambia Police Force (GPF) of Kanifing Municipality searched the residence of Dukureh Sisawo in Kanifing South on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, and recovered non-lethal weapons.

The weapons include pistols and rubber bullets.

According to the Spokesperson of the GPF Cadet Assistant Superintendent Modou Musa Sisawo, the search yielded several concerning items including two pistols, one plastic bottle containing rubber bullets, three passports bearing the name Dukureh Sisawo, two loaded magazines, and five rubber bullet magazines.

“Preliminary investigations and examinations of the weapons have determined that the weapons are non-lethal,” Cadet Assistant Superintendent Modou Musa Sisawo said. 

However, he said they could potentially be used to threaten and facilitate criminal activities.

“At the time of the search, Mr. Dukureh was out of the country,’’ Police Spokesperson Sisawo said, reminding the citizenry to avoid harboring or possessing illegal weapons.

He said the public is encouraged to continue reporting any such activities to the nearest Police station, in order to maintain peace and security in the country.
