Gambia’s President, Adama Barrow, has said that the Gambia is ready and shall welcome the Muslim leaders for the upcoming Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation Summit.
The next Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation Summit will be held in the Gambia from the 4-5th of May 2024.
Barrow made the statement during his 2024 Koriteh speech on Tuesday.
The summit has been postponed several times by the government of the Gambia.
“Following several postponements of hosting the event, we are grateful that it is now on the horizon,” he said.
“By God’s grace, we shall welcome the Muslim Ummah to the Smiling Coast of Africa.”
He called on Gambians to get ready for the Summit to sell the name of their country.
“I ask that you prepare to put up your best to show for the occasion. It is an opportunity to show the world who we really are and what we can offer to humanity.
“Singly and collectively in our places of worship, both during and after the Eid, let us pray for a successful and peaceful Summit,” he added.
