Amadou Ba who conceded thanked everyone and wished the incoming president success during his tenure. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the incoming president calls for Senegal to put the past behind the people, remember and heal all that went wrong and ensure that there is no recurrence. He invited both the victorious coalition and the other contestants to come together to keep a nation united for the good of all. He emphasized that the task is to address the needs and aspirations of the Senegalese people.
Senegal will now have a president, who will receive the mantle from President Macky Sall after the expiry of his term on 2nd April, 2024.
There will be no vacuum in the transfer of power. The incoming president will have to establish a coalition government that may be designed to share a cake for all to slice or to put together those with experience and competence to ensure that every Senegalese has his or her share of his or her national wealth.
