Seven in Custody on Drug-Related Charges

The Drug Law Enforcement Agency of The Gambia (DLEAG) has recently arrested seven Gambians on drug related charges.

According to spokesperson Ousman Saidybah, 22-year-old Omar Jobe, and 20-year-old Ousman Ceesay, were both nabbed by officers of the Bundung DLEAG Unit on the 29 of August 2023 with one bundle, and twenty-four parcels of suspected cannabis sativa, concealed in white and cement papers respectively.

According to him, 33-year-old DembaJoof, was arrested by Sibanor Station’s DLEAG Unit at Manyima village on 30 of August 2023, with three bundles of suspected cannabis which was concealed and wrapped in cement paper, and placed inside a yellow and black colour bag.

He said 24-year-old Kebba Jatta and 30-year-old Adama Njie were also arrested by Tanji Police Station’s DLEAG Unit on the 30 of August 2023, with ten wraps of suspected ‘kush’ and one wrap of suspected cannabis sativa, concealed in white and transparent nylon bag respectively.

“22-year-old Muhammed Keita and 50-year-old MamourDarboe were arrested by Tallinding Police Station’s DLEAG Unit at Latrikunda on the 31st of August 2023, with twenty four parcels and one wrap of suspected cannabis sativa, concealed in white paper and placed inside a multi-coloured bag,” he reported.

He said all the suspects are in custody while further investigations continue on their case.
