The NEA has come out clean in a plain language. It has made it categorically clear that the oil spill was due to poor maintenance culture. Gam Petroleum is said to have installed pipes that have been transporting petroleum without any effort to repair the facility. Consequently, there was corrosion which led to a burst pipe. Hence the oil spill is due to poor maintenance of the facility.
Foroyaa is waiting for a joint detailed environmental assessment of the NEA and other agencies in order to draw conclusion.
