A flurry of names are set to bolster Gambia’s squad ahead of the start of 
the Gabon 2017 qualifiers, Foroyaa Sport can reveal.
The Scorpions one of the underdogs in Group M, and in a grouping that has the Indomitable Lions as one of the favourites, Gambia knows beefing up its team is a necessity and in a bid to claim a spot in the tournament proper, the Gambia Football Federation is considering calling up a number of the country’s foreign-based players most of whom are uncapped at international level.
Prominent among the names on the federation list, Foroyaa Sport understands, is Norwegian-born Kristian Brix who’s qualify to sport Gambia’s colours through one of his parents.
Brix, a former Norway U-17 international, is a 24-year-old defender playing club football at Bodo Glmit of the Norwegian Premier League.
His inclusion is expected to give the Scorpion backline made up of largely veterans, a bolstering effect. The stopper who began club football with Valeranga captained Gambia’s midfield kingpin Tijan Jaiteh while at second tier side Sandefjord.
Striker Muhamed Sumareh playing in the Malaysia Super League is part of the names to get capped likely against South Africa next month. The 20-year-old who saw a dream move to Real Marlloca scuppered by disagreement over transfer fee, turned down overtures from the Southeast Asian country opting for Gambia instead.
27-year-old forward Pa Amat Dibba from Swedish top side GIF Sundsvall, Lech Poznan’s Muhamed Keita and Sporting Lisbon reserve team’s defender Seejou King are reportedly on the country’s FF wish-list.
Mustapha Carayol is perhaps the biggest boost to the Scorpion’s push for qualification after the Middlesbrough midfielder voiced interest to play for his country of birth over the weekend.]]>
