By Mamadou Dem The criminal assault case involving one Sedia Bayo, who is said to beSidia Bayo at large, has resumed yesterday, Monday, 20 April 2015 at the Banjul Magistrates’ Court. However, as Mr. Bayo was not in court to defend the charges preferred against him, the matter was subsequently adjourned to 18 May, 2015 for hearing. He is charged with two counts of ‘Assault Causing actual bodily harm’ and ‘Assault causing grievous bodily harm’. Readers could recall that the lower court in Banjul presided over by Magistrate Samsideen Conteh on the 25th of  November, 2014  issued an arrest warrant against Mr. Bayo for allegedly assaulting business tycoon, Amadou Samba. The court also ordered for the said accused person to be extradited to The Gambia and face trial. On the day the case was mentioned in court, police prosecutors told the court that he was at large and therefore applied for a bench warrant to enable the police to arrest and bring him before the court to stand trial. According to the particulars of offence on count one, Mr. Bayo, in November, 2014 in Banjul and diverse places, unlawfully assaulted one Amadou Samba by beating him all over his body and caused him actual bodily harm, thereby committed an offence. On count two, the particulars of offence states that the said accused person in the same month and year in Banjul and diverse places ‘grievously’ assaulted Amadou Samba by beating him all over his body and caused him grievous bodily harm, thereby committed an offence.]]>
