Naffie Gaye, a first year first semester student at the University of The Gambia (UTG) pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Economics is seeking scholarship to continue her educational career.

Gaye recently finished her first year, first semester examination and is waiting for her results. She was admitted to the UTG School of Business and Public Administration to commence studies during the 2020/2021 academic year.

According to the UTG admission letter, Gaye’s tuition fees for her programme of studies amounts to D34, 900 per annum. Other costs/fees include student union fee, development fee, technology fee, and library fee which amount to D1200. This is payable in full or in two equal installments before or at the commencement of the semester.

“Payment shall be made to the University of The Gambia’s Account number 110-019782-01 (Trust Bank Ltd) and present the bank payment receipt to the University Chief Accountant in the Administration Building of the University who will issue an official receipt,” the letter indicated.

The letter said no student will be allowed to register for any course unless he/she has presented evidence of payment of tuition fees or scholarship award from the Government.

“I am a girl who has the perseverance and greater determination towards my education. I was born in a poor family background with a single parent and have no financial support concerning my education,” Gaye lamented.

She said her dad, a carpenter, is the breadwinner of their family and his income is only limited to the family necessities.

“I lost my mother during childbirth and right now my dad is the only provider for my needs, but he cannot pay my University tuition fee. I will be very grateful for your consideration,” she said.

For any support, Gaye can be reached on the following numbers: 3561825/ 7734430 or 7009887.
