Thirteen individuals, who were involved in drug trafficking and possession, are to face criminal prosecution immediately after experts conclude their analytically report on the matter, a regional commissioner of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, who is abreast with the matter, told Foroyaa on Monday.
The commissioner said the suspects were arrested in September 2020 and are facing multiple drug related charges, including possession and trafficking.
The commissioner added that they are waiting analytical report to put the case before a court.
According to the commissioner, the drugs included 36 stones of hashish weighing 68grams and 500milligrams. The other drugs were cannabis, he said.
Asked whether the suspects are still in detention, the commissioner responded in the negative.
“We granted them bail and they are helping us with our investigation. They are still reporting on bail,” the commissioner said.
The suspects involved, the Commissioner said, were 12 male and one female, and of those, two were non-Gambians and 11 Gambians.
Meanwhile, the commissioner advised Gambians from all walks of life, especially young people, to desist from drug dealings while urging for collaboration in the fight against drug trafficking and possession in the country.
