Why Would Any President Want To Serve More Than Two Terms?

QUESTION OF THE DAY

Nigeria has a population of 203 Million while the USA has a population of 330 Million but both countries had the wisdom to adopt presidential term limits of four-year duration per term. Hence no President of the United States or Nigeria could serve for more than two terms of four-year duration adding up to 8 years.

The members of ECOWAS have embraced the principle of two terms for the Presidency. Why would anyone look for any justification to serve more than two terms?

Two terms means two terms. In short, if one serves one term and happens to lose the Presidential Election that follows one would still be able to stand again so as to serve one more term if elected. Whether, it is written in a constitution or not all those who are interested in putting an end to self-perpetuating rule should be committed to the two-term principle.
