Alagie Kanyi the sixth Prosecution Witness (PW6) in the ongoing criminal suit involving former Minister Yankuba Touray was yesterday cross-examined.
Yesterday 13th February 2020, when the case was called before Justice Ebrima Jaiteh of the Banjul high court Mr. Kanyi told the court that he joined the Gambia Army on the 15th of January 1986 and his intake number is 5.
“I cannot remember the intake number of Edward Singhatey and his brother Peter Singhatey, but the accused person Yankuba Touray was part of the 6th intake of the Gambia Armed Force,” the witness told the court.
The witness said that on the 22nd July 2019 he was called to the Kairaba Police Station where he made a statement in connection to the accused person Yankuba Touray.
“Did you make any other statement about the accused person before Justice Aminata Saho Ceesay of the Banjul High Court,” ask Lawyer Sisoho the defence lawyer for the accused person.
The sixth witness in the murder case involving Yankuba Touray said yesterday (Thursday) was the first day that he made a statement in connection to the murder of Ousman Koro Ceesay and that was what brought him before the court.
Kanyi said Peter Singhatey was his senior when they were in Fajara at the training school and Peter was also his Commander.
“I have no personal relationship with Peter, the only relationship we have was that he was my senior at the training school and he was also a Captain and I was a Staff Sargent,” he said.
The matter was then adjourned till 24th February 2020 for the continuation of cross-examination.
