Brikama United has reclaimed top spot temporarily joining neighbours
Bombada as joint- leaders.
Bombada had topped on two points prior to completion of week eight
fixtures but they now share the gains at the apex after applying the
breaks on Interior impressive run of matches.Unlike, Serrekunda United whom they won promotion with from the
country’s second tier, Brikama’s doting newcomers of the championship
have shown so far doze of consistency that lends credit to their
ambition to be considered title contenders, not pretenders.
Bigger boys of WCR, Brikama United scrapped past FA Cup holders Banjul
United on a 2-1 score to claim their stake as genuine league title
chasers.
Gaffer Sulayman Kuyateh’s Brikama United and Real de Banjul are the teams in
the twelve club premier league yet to taste defeat in the ongoing season.
Champions Real are still within touching distance of the race for the
staked prize as they sit third, three points behind leaders at the
summit. Victory over capital rivals Wallidan will see them catch up on
other three outfits at the top.
Elsewhere Serrekunda United picked their second point of the season in
as eight fixtures after holding second-placed Gamtel to a goalless
draw.
Gambia Ports Authority won all bragging rights in the capital derby
against fifth-placed Hawks courtesy of a 1-0 score. GPA are third on
thirteen points in eight matches.
Bakau United woeful run of the season continues after losing to joint
third-placed Armed Forces in an earlier game.
