Every Gambian is entitled to freedom of association and freedom of assembly including political association and assembly. Most Gambians see the granting of a permit for a procession by an advocacy group to be a sign of tolerance. What cannot be understood is the denial of a permit for the use of an amplification system by a political party.
Foroyaa will contact the Inspector General of Police to find out what is responsible for this inconsistency. The readers will be sufficiently informed and one would expect that the IPC would be contacted by any aggrieved political party for settlement of such matters.
