QUESTION OF THE DAY
It was the belief of many that Foni from where the former president hails was the main beneficiary of developments under the Jammeh administration. President Barrow has however expressed surprise that the residents of many parts of Foni could be among the most deprived in The Gambia.
Gambians should draw lessons from this; that no president could facilitate the development of his or her region of origin alone. Development is a national enterprise and no single president can facilitate the development of members of his or her religion, ethno linguistic group, gender, age and other classifications. All Gambians should therefore promote the national interest instead of sinking to sectionalism or sectarianism.
