Gambia’s Gina Bass will today hope to right the wrongs that caused her non qualification in the Athletics World Games women’s 100m finals.

The police officer-turned star athlete was left a bit shaken after nemesis Marie Josee Ta Lou topped the heat of the event they both competed in, earning the Ivorian automatic qualification to the 100m finals.

Ta Lou, the 30-year-old Gina dethroned as Africa’s fastest in the 200m in Morocco, is the continent’s sole representative in the 100m event which was underway at press time.
Gina has strongly noted 100m is not her strongest point and will be out to rectify that blip when she takes to the tracks in her favourite 200m dash today.

Bass clocked a 11.24 seconds as she came sixth in the 100m semis with a reaction timing of 0.135.
