By Mamadou Dem Judicial Secretary, Mr. John Belford, yesterday, 6th November, confirmed to this paper that the contract of Justice Mikailu Abdulahi, as a high court judge, has expired and was not renewed by the judiciary. When asked whether he knows the whereabouts of the former judge of the Special Criminal Division of the high court, the Judicial Secretary responded in the negative. However, there are reports that the former high court judge is presently outside the jurisdiction of The Gambia. Mr. Abdulahi, prior to the expiry of his contract, has been handling high profile cases, including trial involving the Secretary General, Head of the Civil Service and Presidential Affairs Minister, Mr. Momodou Sabally. He was the judge who also handled the case of the former Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Mr. Mambury Njie, and later acquitted and discharged him. Before his appointment as a high court judge, Mr. Abdulahi, under Nigerian technical assistance, started as a state counsel and rose to become the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). ]]>
