Foroyaa has learnt that the brothers of former President Jammeh who were arrested and detained at the police HQ in Banju, have been charged and released on bail on Friday, 12 May 2017, at around 12 noon, police sources can confirm.
The Police spokesperson, Mr. Foday Conta, said Sainey, Araba and Jalamang all bearing the surname Jammeh, were released on bail but were asked to be reporting daily, from today, Monday, at the police headquarters in Banjul.
The three brothers of the former president were arrested and taken to Police headquarters in Banjul on Wednesday, 10 May, at around 8am.
A source had earlier told this paper that Sainey Jammeh, Araba Jammeh and Jalamang Jammeh received phone calls from someone who claimed to be attached to Bwiam police station, to report to the said station. The source added that upon their arrival at the said station, they were questioned and later transported to the Major Crime Unit at police headquarters in Banjul, for further questioning. Araba Jammeh was released on bail due to ill health while the other two were detained for two days upon which all three were charged with stealing and conspiracy.
