The Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General Masanneh Kinteh, has over the weekend, concluded a nationwide tourwhere he visited security installations in the regions of NBR, CRR, URR and LRR. The second phase of the expedition will take him to the WCR, KM and Banjul.
Public Relations Officer of The Gambia Armed Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Omar B Bojang, said the visit availed CDS Kinteh the opportunity to see firsthand the living and working conditions of members of the armed and security forces.
He said key among CDS Kinteh’s message to officers is to abstain from using and peddling drugs as there will be zero tolerance to anyone caught in possession with it.
“Anyone who is caught, the person will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for prosecution,” he added.
He said the CDS urged the officers to work harder and diligently serve the nation.
This is his first country-wide security sightseeing since his appointment as the country’s top security personnel.
Kinteh has once served the army in the same position during the former regime before his deployment in the Foreign Service.
The tour will give him an insight of the various military installations across the country as he also meets regional governors, traditional leaders and other stakeholders in the security circuit. This is in a bit to strengthen military – civil relations.
