QUESTION OF THE DAY

HAS THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY BEEN DISSOLVED?

The answer is a categorical no. According to section 99 subsection(1) of the Constitution, the National Assembly shall stand dissolved on the day immediately preceding the day appointed in accordance with section 97 for the first session of the next following the National Assembly.

In short, the APRC dominated National Assembly in which Hon. Abdoulie Bojang is Speaker and Hon. Fabakary Tombong Jatta is majority leader will continue to subsist until the first session of the new members elected at the April 6 National Assembly Elections. The place of that first session will be appointed in a proclamation by the president and published in the Gazette.
