As young people take their stand as advocates to promote the transformation of the backward dumpsite to an environmentally friendly one there is need for a response from the Kanifing Municiapal Council who is responsible for the dumpsite.
Blockage is a way to prevent dumping but not a solution. One would ask what the alternative dumpsite is. This is the question. Will the same process that polluted the Bakoteh dumpsite be taken elsewhere to the detriment of others? A solution is necessary to address the problem of disposal of waste. There is need to implement a recycling process with immediacy to address the problem of solid waste. The longer it takes to put the recycling programme in place, the greater the threat to disposal of solid waste would pose. The sooner this problem is addressed the better.
