QUESTION OF THE DAY
Has the Kanfenda civil conflict been resolved?
Apparently, measures are being taken to heal the wound of a victim and encourage him to see the importance of national reconciliation at this critical moment when power has changed hands.
It is now the Coalition that is in power. Hence, it has greater interest in giving assurance to communities which may feel alienated that they should not have any fears. The Coalition should bend over backwards to accommodate its opponents.
The change undergone by Gambia has earned the country the image of tolerance and peace. Most people have commended the country for the peaceful transfer of power.
Those who have been released on bail have been met by the National Reconciliation Committee of the Coalition to prepare their minds on the need to maintain tolerance and harmony by people on either side of the political divide.
It is hoped that these measures will lead to a solution of the crisis.
