Mariama Jallow the police officer who sustained six stabbed wounds is recovering from her injuries. It could be observed during a visit that she is now moving freely. She only complains of internal pain.

The Public Relation Officer Inspector Foday Conta told this paper yesterday that the stabbing by unknown boys happened while Mariama was performing official duties and because of that they (the police) are taking the responsibility of her treatment. “We have paid all her treatment bills and she also goes for check up every day,’’ he noted.

Inspector Conta further told this paper that they are still on their investigations, adding that they are hoping to catch the culprits. He assured the public that there is no need to worry about the treatment of Mariama Jallow as the  police have assumed full responsibility of that since she is part of the Gambia Police Force and will get all that she deserves from them.

He cautioned those who misconstrue the meaning of democracy, arguing that democracy does not include infringing on the rights of others. He went further to warn that anybody who goes against the law will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Mariama Jallow was attacked by two boys on her way from work on the 25th of January and as a result she sustained six severe injuries on different parts of her body.
