The coalition’s spokesperson Halifa Sallah informed the media on Tuesday, January 31, that 11 ministers have already been 
appointed by President Adama Barrow and will be named and sworn in on Wednesday at a special ceremony.
“I am here to tell you and invite you to the swearing in ceremony of the ministers who have been appointed by him tomorrow. They are already told the portfolios they are going to hold and it entails the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, Ministry of Trade, Regional Integration and Employment, The office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign affairs, International Cooperation & Gambians abroad, Ministry of Ministry of Youth and Sports, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Lands and Regional Government, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Fisheries, Water Resources and National Assembly Matters, Ministry of Forestry, Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources” said Sallah.
He said those who are to be sworn have been appointed with effect from 30th January, 2017. This comprises 11 ministries and there are still 7 ministries to be filled. The ministries that are now filled emerged out of a compact forged by the coalition which President Barrow is trying to satisfy, he said.
“The rest of the appointments of seven other ministries will be determined base on competences of the individuals, their experiences and professionalism. He asked me to tell you that he is receiving recommendation from those who believed they are certain Gambians who can serve the nation and he will be interviewing them” said Sallah.
He noted that it is a constitutional right for the president to appoint the ministers and the vice president.
Meanwhile, the swearing in ceremony will take place today at 1pm at Kairaba Beach Hotel.
