One sided post electoral reporting by GRTS

The national broadcaster is outdoing itself in suppressing divergent views and dissenting opinion and fully transformed into a propaganda machine of the loser of the 1 December 2016 presidential election.

Unfortunately, propaganda cannot transform fiction into facts. They only encourage the general public to focus on the facts and dismiss the fiction as mere means to divert their attention.

As long as GRTS is not tired in abandoning the fundamental principles clearly enshrined in Section 208 of the Constitution Foroyaa will not get tired in exposing the shortcomings.

Gambia is going through a very sensitive political situation. The national broadcaster should have been a key instrument in promoting consensus building on the way forward for the country irrespective of political opinion. It is hoped that it will finally acknowledge its departure from the independence and professionalism which the national broadcaster should manifest and play a neutral part that would earn it the confidence of all sides of the political spectrum.

The public is watching. Foroyaa will keep the nation informed of any rectification of this gross disregard of the letter and spirit of the Constitution.

This is a changed era when an incoming president is occupying the political space in parallel with the outgoing president. This should have been the best time for all media establishments to open up to divergent views and dissenting opinion so that the facts would be known through vigorous debates.
