The former Human Resource Director at Gamcel has now spent one year and 62 days in detention at the Mile Two prison, as of today, 28 October, 2016 and without the family not having access to him during this period.
When contacted yesterday for an update on the situation, a close family source told this reporter that Mr. Jaiteh is still not released as he is currently languishing in prison, adding that they have also been denied access to their loved one.
The source said they are renewing their call for the head of state to intervene and secure the release of their loved one.
The 54 year old was arrested in November 2010 and taken to the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) headquarters in Banjul, where he spent days before he was arraigned before the high court and later convicted on 20 October 2012. He was released in February 2014 after serving his jail term.
However, on 27 August 2014, he was rearrested by agents of the NIA at his residence in Manjai Kunda in the late hours of the morning and then taken to the NIA headquarters, where he was held until 3 September, before being transferred to Mile Two until today.
