Adama Barrow, the Presidential Candidate of the United Democratic Party (UDP), expressed hope that with the ongoing efforts to bring the 
opposition parties together under a coalition, something positive could be realised in two weeks’ time.
He said this during an interview with this reporter on Thursday, 29th September, 2016 in his office situated along Mamadi Maniyang highway close to Westfield.
Mr. Barrow said his party has been involved in many activities that are meant to bring all the opposition parties under a single roof ahead of the forthcoming presidential election on 1 December 2016.
“There are other discussions going on with Halifa Sallah and I have the belief that something will come out of this talk because UDP is committed to change and also to unity. I have not been attending the convergence physically because of an engagement,” said the UDP flagbearer.
Mr. Barrow added that “I can be represented and I can also be there myself. It’s all the same. This last meeting I have another engagement which is also very important because I am trying to hand over my company’s office to take a 2 months leave so that I can participate actively on political activities, but not that we are not interested or committed to the cause.”
The UDP Presidential Candidate said he doubts his presence at next Wednesday’s rescheduled meeting as the UDP on Saturday, 1 October, will be embarking on a tour.
However, he said since they have a representative attending the discussion which is in line with their road map, any outcome achieved will reflect the view of the whole UDP.
“We feel that when we are united we are 99% sure of victory. There are a lot of discussions going on from my own end as well. Personally, I’m reaching the political leaders to discuss and so far I met three of them, including the witnesses. The meetings have been very positive and I believe within the period of two weeks something will kick off,” said Barrow.
