Hon. Buba Ayi Sanneh, the National Assembly Member (NAM) for Kombo Central, is still being held incommunicado for 7 days Hon. Buba Ayi Sannehtoday at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) headquarters in Banjul.

Mrs. Aja Njie, the wife of the Kombo Central NAM, said her husband has still not returned home since he reported at the NIA on Wednesday, 31 August 2016 and that they can neither see him at his place of detention nor talk to him through his cell phones which are all switched off.

This update on the whereabouts of Hon. Sanneh was given to this reporter by the wife when he visited the NAM’s home on Monday.

Alagi Senkereh, the nephew of the Kombo Central NAM, also informed Foroyaa that he was not allowed to see his detained uncle when he visited the NIA head office in Banjul yesterday, 6 September.

“I was there pleading with the officers I met at the entrance to allow me talk to my uncle briefly but they refused to do so. I also approached the other agents who I recognised when I escorted my uncle to report on Wednesday but they also refused to accept my request,’’ he disclosed.

Senkereh also revealed that one of his uncle’s wives and the Basse NAM have both visited the NIA but were not allowed to see him.

He said the family is hereby appealing to the authorities to release their loved one.

The continued detention of the Kombo Central lawmaker for more than 72 hours contravenes section 19 of the Second Republic’s Constitution (1997) which states that “Any person who is arrested or detained… who is not released, shall be brought without undue delay before a court of law and, in any event, within 72 hours.”
