Mr Seedy Jaiteh, a former Director of Human Resource at Gamtel/Gamcel, continues to languish in the Mile Two central prison for 700 days now without access to his family.
When contacted yesterday, Tuesday, 26 July, 2016 to enquire about his fate, a close family source confirmed to Foroyaa that he is still being held incommunicado at the central prison and not charged or brought before a court of law.
The family source indicated that they are deeply worried about this long and unlawful detention of their loved one who is also not allowed visits by his family members, adding that they have always been denied access by the prison guards when they make attempts to visit him.
The source renewed their incessant call for Mr. Jaiteh’s release to re-unite with his family.
Foroyaa has earlier reported that Mr. Jaiteh was arrested and detained since 2014.
It was also revealed that the former Gamtel/Gamcel official was first arrested in November 2010 at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) headquarters in Banjul and held for many days before being released. He was said to be later arraigned before the high court and convicted on 20th October 2012 to serve a jail term and was released in February 2014.
A family source disclosed that Mr. Jaiteh was re-arrested by agents of NIA at his home in Manjai Kunda on 27 August 2014 and held briefly by them before he was eventually transferred on 3 September 2014 to Mile II prison where he is detained since then.
