Gambia international Abdoulie Mansally this week proved his worthy of permanent consideration for a starting spot at Huston Dynamo assisting a goal in the demolition of Kansas City.
The left-footed wing- left-back played a big part making it from the starting spot as Huston wrecked City’s back-to-back ambition to win the US Open Cup on a final 3-1 score Wednesday night in the round of 16.
Huston raced to take control of the game scoring two early goals in each half. Mauro Moratas first got on the score before Mansally rose to the occasion and over-lapped.
The 27-year-old Scorpion then laid out a pass for an unmarked Alex who delectably powered into the goal mouth. The Colombian was at it again burying home the final shot for a 3-1 score, dashing any hopes of a come-back into this game by Sporting City.
Mansally who was making his fourth appearance with Huston’s A-team since joining in May, got subbed out immediately in the 46th minute.
It was the Gambian’s first match since getting recalled from third tier side Rio Grande Valley where he was temporary loaned.
Having reached the quarter-finals, Abdoulie remains on track to clinch his second US Open Cup after his first with New England Revolution in 2007.
