6 women to reappear in Kanifing Court today

Six women charged with seven criminal charges by the Police are due to re-appear at the Kanifing Magistrate’s Court today, Monday, 16 May, 2016.

Isatou Saidy, Lele Bojang, Sukai Dahaba, Kaddy Samateh, Fatoumata Sarr and Amie Touray, who are yet to take their pleas, were arraigned at the Kanifing Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 12 May, 2016.

They were said to be arrested on Monday, 9 May, immediately after the court proceedings of Ousainou Darboe and the other UDP members at the Banjul high court.

The seven criminal charges proffered against these six women are ‘Unlawful assembly’, ‘Riot’, ‘Incitement of violence’, ‘Holding procession without a permit’, ‘Idle and disorderly conduct’ and ‘Prohibition of conduct conducive to the breach of peace’.

They are being represented by Hawa Sisay Sabally and Sagarr Jahateh.
