The amount spent in the staging of the Football Association Cup 
including money prizes has come to light for the first time.
Competitions are often held but rarely are the incurred expenses on tournaments revealed by organizers.
However, the figure covering cost of expenses made in the recently concluded FA cup tournament has been revealed to Foroyaa Sport.
A visit at the football federation confirms the amount forked out to be at D196, 537.50.
This, according to the GFF finance office, includes money prizes, logistics and food for hired security personnel for the day. Eventual title winners and record-makers Banjul United scooped D75, 000 and a trophy, while Hawks pocketed a consolation prize of D50, 000.
It took a last-gasp strike from Pa Omar Babou to hand Banjul United their first Silverware and became the first outfit, in recent seasons, to clinch the gong in their first attempt.
Pa Omar Babou danced his way into Hawks’ defense after being fed with a through pass. The tiny forward controlled well beating the last man at the back-four before coaxing the advancing keeper to slot to the back of an empty net for the opener.
The Reds have endured trophy drought in recent seasons, ending this last term on a less than prepossessing note. Victory could all but spare Sangs’ charges of their league blushes, but Banjul United held on to the end of time amid tumultuous jubilations.]]>
