Sen. Richard Joseph “Dick” Durbin from Illinois, who is the Assistant Senate Minority Leader, and Sen. Patrick Joseph Leahy
from Vermont have written a letter to the Gambian President Yahya Jammeh urging for the release of both Chief Ebrima Manneh and Alhagie Abdoulie Ceesay, the Managing Director of Taranga FM, who is currently remanded in custody and facing charges relating to sedition and false news.
Below is full text of the letter dated 31 March, 2016:
“Richard Joseph “Dick” Durbin is the senior United States Senator from Illinois, in office since 1997. He has been the Assistant Minority Leader, the second highest position in the Democratic Party leadership in the Senate, since 2015.
Patrick Joseph Leahy is an American politician and the senior United States Senator from Vermont. He has been in office since 1975.
