The Kanifing Industrial Tribunal on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 asked Africa Muslim Agency, defendant, to open its defence after the out of court negotiations with Modou Lamin Bojang, plaintiff, failed to meet the latter’s demands.

It was before a panel presided by Isatou Jallow Nahla, the Tribunal Chairperson, with Ebrima Garba Cham representing the plaintiff whilst Lawyer Sasum Sillah appeared for the Agency.

Addressing the court, the agency’s attorney said they were advised to settle the matter outside the court but that they could not meet the terms of the plaintiff. She said due to the failure of the negotiation, the matter will continue proceeding with the cross examination of plaintiff’s witness.

However, the tribunal chairperson told the parties that she is new in the matter and that the records of her predecessor did not capture cross examination. She said according to the court records before her, the matter was adjourned for report of settlement or the defendant to open defence.

“The court records indicated that cross examination has closed since July, before Chairperson Gomez,” she said.

The matter was adjourned to 4th May, 2016 for the defendant to enter defence at 10 am.
