98 prisoners are released through a prerogative of mercy by President Adama Barrow on Thursday 2 March 2017.
16 prisoners out of the 98 are foreigners some of whom are Senegalese, Guineans and Sierra Leoneans.
Those released were detained at Mile 2 , Jeshwang and Janjangbureh Prisons respectively.
This is the second batch of prisoners that have been released by the new government.
The pardoned prisoners were convicted of various crimes such as drug offences, rape, robbery and possession of fire arms.
The president pardoned 174 prisoners few weeks ago. This brings the total number of prisoners released to 272 since President Barrow came to power six weeks ago.
