Justice Eunice O. Dada of the Banjul High Court has yesterday, 12 May 2016 granted bail to Mr. Ansumana Jammeh, the former Ansumana JammehGambian Ambassador to Qatar, and Sanna Bah and Assan Badjie in the sum of 60 Million Dalasi.

Delivering her ruling, the presiding judge said the accused persons filed their summons and attached a 15 paragraph affidavit to it for the court to review their bail application.

She said the accused persons were standing trial before the Banjul Magistrates’ court on two counts of ‘Conspiracy to commit felony’ and ‘Official corruption’.

Justice Dada said the accused persons in their affidavits stated that they were granted bail at the lower court but that it was excessive. She added that the accused persons also applied to the lower court for their bail to be reviewed but that application was refused.

“I have looked at the application and averment before me and I shall grant this application by looking at the exhibits before me,” she said.

The trial judge said the charges should commensurate with the bail bond.

“Bail is hereby granted to the accused persons in the sum of 60 Million to Dalasi with two Gambian sureties who must submit the original of their title deeds to the Principal Registrar of the high court,” ordered Justice Dada.

She further orders for the accused persons to submit their international travelling documents to the Principal Registrar of the court and to be reporting to the Inspector General of Police every Monday.
