By Mustapha Jallow Alhaji Kebba Touray, who runs a clearing and forwarding agency, who is reported to be bed-ridden for six months at the time of his arrest, is still detained for 33 days at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) detention center in Banjul. According to close family sources they are denied access to him and that they do not have the opportunity to take food and clothes to him, adding they are still concerned about his state of health. The family added that the reason(s) for his arrest and detention is still unknown to them as they didn’t hear any explanation from the said authorities. Mr. Touray is being held for more than 72 hours without charge or bail. Readers would recall that Mr Touray was arrested around 2pm on Saturday, 24 January, 2015 at his residence at Tobacco Road in Banjul by men who identified themselves as state agents of the NIA asking him to accompany them to a meeting at state house in Banjul. Reports indicate that in 2009, Mr. Touray was arrested and later released in the wake of the arrest of Lt. Gen. Lang Tombong Tamba, a former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) and others. ]]>
