16 STUDENTS SCORE AGGREGATE 6 IN 2016 GABECE

A press release from the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education disclosed that a total of 16 candidates have scored aggregate 6 in the 2016 Gambia Basic Education Certificate Examination (GABECE). The total number of candidates who entered for the examination was 22,513 students of whom 10,576 are males and 11,917 females.

The release added that Isatou John of New Covenant Upper Basic School and Mariama Jammeh of Gambia Methodist Academy are the top candidates with 1 (one) in all their nine subjects.

Three of the 16 students are from SOS Hermann Gmeiner, 3 from Presentation of St Mary’s, 2 from ABC Upper Basic and 1 from each of the following schools, Gambia Methodist Academy, New Covenant Upper Basic, Tallinding Upper Basic, Abuki Upper Basic, Sangajorr Basic Cycle, Ndow’s Comprehensive Upper Basic, Brusubi Upper Basic, and Kaur Upper Basic School respectively.

While advising the candidates to go to their respective schools to collect their results, the ministry said admission to grade 10 should be based on passes in the core subjects i.e. English and Maths to be decided by boards of governors and not exceeding aggregate 42.
