WILL DARBOE AND CO. CONTINUE TO BE INCACERATED AFTER THE COURT HAS CONFIRMED EBRIMA SOLO SANDENG’S DEATH IN CUSTODY?
That is unthinkable if the Executive is exposed to the facts before the court and the law of the land.
The facts reveal that the state is guilty of omission to do what would have prevented Darboe and Co. to go into a fact finding expedition. The state knew that Sandeng was dead and this information should have been immediately conveyed to the Coroner to conduct an inquiry that would have been known to the family and the UDP leadership. It is the family that is qualified to identify Ebrima Solo Sandeng in any Coroner’s inquest.
Hence the actions of those who went to demand for Solo Sandeng, dead or alive, is a byproduct of the omission of the state to obey the law. A state that disobeys the law is a law breaker. This fact should be taken note of and miscarriage of justice prevented by not prolonging the incarceration of the UDP leadership and members.
“Let justice guide our action towards the common good.” We are yet to meet a single Gambian who does not favour the release of the UDP leadership and members as an act in line with the public interest.
