Those who are yet to be convicted are having their cases withdrawn from the courts. It is still difficult for us to understand why people like Amadou Sanneh are still left out. The president has sworn to carry out his mandate in accordance with the constitution without fear or favour, affection or ill will.
Hence, it would amount to a genuine exercise of prerogative of mercy if a person like Amadou Sanneh is released.
It would confirm that in exercising prerogative of mercy, the president is not hindered or motivated by any fear or favour, affection or ill will.
Amadou’s loved ones are still waiting to share the joy of his release. The future will tell whether their everyday dreams would come through.
