QUESTION OF THE DAY

WHY DID THE PRESIDENT CHANGE HIS EXECUTIVE ORDER ON HEAD TIES?
WHAT ARE THE LESSONS?

Foroyaa did gather opinion on the executive directive for women in
offices to put on head ties to cover their hair which became stalenews after the executive made a quick decision to rescind his order as
follows:
“The general public is hereby informed that the directive for women to
put on a head dress (not hijab) in all public offices during working
hours is lifted. The directive had nothing to do with religion.
Women are His Excellency the president Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr.
Yahya AJJ Jammeh-Babili Mansa’s best friends, they are his sisters and
he is here for their wellbeing and happiness at all times. That being
the case, this decision that makes them unhappy has been lifted.”
It is clear that the directive was not based on any religion or
regulation but on the whims and caprices of the executive. It is
lifted to reduce the negative impact of the decision on the support
base of the President.
It has been made clear to all that this whole issue of an Islamic
Republic has no base in law or religion. Those who sing praise without
studying the motives behind executive decisions are likely to bow
their heads whenever those decisions are reversed because of the
desire for popularity.
