WHY ARE OLD DALASI NOTES STILL CIRCULATING?

167

Currency notes are circulating in different denominations which are torn, tattered and even defaced but are kept together by cello tape or by stapling. Some of them could even transfer illnesses to those who handle them in large sums to engage in small and medium scale businesses.

The Central Bank is responsible for the issuing of banknotes. The bank did issue a pressing release indicating the replacement of worn out notes with new ones for some denominations. However the old notes are still circulating.

A date should be indicated when old currency notes should be replaced by new notes. At places where the replacement could be effected conveyed to the general public. Foroyaa will reach out to the Central Bank to find out the concrete action they are taking to collect and destroy the old notes.
